Breakfast With The Buddies...

Sophie and Ceci had to have cereal for Baby Giraffe and Mr Bear before they would eat their cheerios. Sometimes I really believe that I am being punished for my past life.

The girls do have huge imaginations and lots of pretending goes on around here. Recently (stop me if you've heard this before) the girls were fighting in the car. Wes and I could not figure out why until I looked back and realized that Sophie was having pretend tea with a pretend cup and refused to give Ceci a pretend cup. Seriously they were fighting over a pretend cup. Are you scared yet? I am.

Another example of pretend play took place about a year ago with Sophie. We were sitting at dinner and Sophie refused to put her pretend mouse away. Wes actually got upset that she wouldn't put her pretend friend away. The funniest thing that I have ever witnessed Wes do was to grab that pretend mouse and dramatically throw it in the garbage can. Sophia's face was priceless. She was shocked. And Wes was very proud of himself for beating her at her own game. And that was that.

So you see we have some unique battles from time to time. But I guess if we just try and see the humor and absolute ridiculousness of the situation we might make it. And now you can all understand why Wes and I have aged so much in the last 3 and half years.

The weather was fantastic today. It is supposed to get steadily worse through Saturday. Great...

Another Day At The Beach...

We've had the strangest weather this spring. Raining in the morning and beautiful warm afternoons. Works for me.

Rock-A-Bye-Baby...

Bubble Boy...

There are days that I can't wait for the kids to grow-up. But, for the most part I really wish I could keep them little. I know that what they have facing them in the years ahead will not be easy. If I could just figure out how to raise them in that bubble it would be great. I guess I will just do the best job that I can to help them make positive choices and to always keep their heads up.

Wes Is Worried...

I will leave that title up to you decide if he is worried about C-zilla or our little lady of the night ? Looking at this picture of Sophie can you believe that she's only 3 and a half?

We had a little practice run for Ceci's Birthday Party Menu tonight. It received the thumbs up from our favorite neighbors.

We Made It...

Little Road Trip...

We took a little road trip up Mount Baker. Wes loves the winding roads, the girls loved watching Cinderella, and I got a headache. The park is really beautiful and the weather was great today. We had a little picnic and Sophie enjoyed feeding the birds until they stole her cookie.

Pink Fairy...

We enjoyed the sunshine this afternoon.

Sophie played on the swing for quite awhile. She said she was a pink fairy using a map to find treasure. I thought it was darn cute and of course encouraged her to keep it up.

Tea For Two...

I enjoyed some delightful tea yesterday with the girls. Nothing like a little pretend tea and stale pretzels to make the morning pass quickly.

Ceci is really into saying Grace these days. Before every bite yesterday she would humm hummum hummm and ammumen. Her little version of big sister's dinner Grace.

Tomorrow is Ceci's two year well-check so we'll find out if she has a speech impediment then.

Reminder once again to write the new web address down. It will go into effect late Thursday or early Friday depending on how much wine I drink. Just kidding Mom.

In Motion...

Ceci is on the move these days. I know that these pictures aren't the best but I found them hilarious. She turned two and no longer sits still.

Good Times...

Sophie had the brilliant idea of coloring herself with chalk. She even managed to chalk her hair. As you can guess the girls took their bathes prior to dinner tonight.

Screaming Monkeys...

Ceci is into rough housing lately. Its all fun and games until someone screams and then I get angry.

Wow! It's kind of fun to look back over the last many months. Today is a bit of a milestone with the 200th post. (I actually thought I hit it a while back. ) I'm surprised at how much I enjoy doing "the blog". I'm constantly thinking about what I am going to write all day long. Most of all I enjoy and appreciate your comments. Thanks for reading and following the monkeys as they grow up. I'm committed to keeping this up for the long haul.

Ballet & Tea...

Sophie and I went with Emily and Natalie to the local ballet school's recital this afternoon. After the performance we went to the tea house. It was a great girls day. Perfect for the crappy weather we've been enjoying.

PS If you were wondering Sophie dropped out of her ballet class two weeks ago. She was "having a hard time" with it.

They Grow Up So Fast...

I overheard a conversation this evening between the girls while they were playing with their Polly's. It seriously had me rolling on the floor.

Ceci with all urgency, "Hup, hup!" (translation hup=help)

Sophie deadpan, "I'm getting to old to keep doing this."

Ceci Is 2...

Ceci started the day off with presents. She loves her new Dora Market Set. After breakfast it was off on errands.
