The Creek...

My parents are working on landscaping their new yard. They put in an amazing water feature that is a little river complete with waterfall and bridge. The girls enjoyed it the whole time we were there. As you can tell they were even outside in their jammies. No one fell in but my Dad and I were taking bets on who would go first. There were a couple of times when I thought it would be me. The wind was fierce but with the sun out it was very pleasant. More 'burg pictures tomorrow.

3 Hours 22 Minutes...

We had a great drive home yesterday. Sophie slept almost the complete drive home while Ceci was asleep for a little over an hour. I think that this was the first time since Soph was born that we were able to make the trip without stopping. The girls went to bed late and were up early the entire trip so it finally caught up with them. More pictures to come later...

Over the River...

and through the woods and up the mountain and down the mountain, past the fruit stand, watch out for the state troopers to Grandmother's House we go. We made it and are here until Sunday. I'll try and have a fresh post with pictures of all the fun things we do on Sunday night.

The Final Countdown...

The "Event" is really starting to kick into high gear! This weekend was Auntie Kimmie's hometown bridal shower. I got her a dope little penny bank to save for their swanky trailer someday. I even promised to come down and help them kick the wheels off.

We did a down-and-back-in-one-day-visit. Good thing Wes and the girls came along to keep me company. It's funny how even after being away for fourteen years I still get a little homesick when I visit the ol' homestead.

What Can I Say?...

Yesterday we enjoyed a visit with Great Aunt Nancy, Grandma, Auntie Am and cousins Peyton and Bella. Sophie and Peyton have so much fun together. It is exciting to watch them play as they have gotten older and interested in each other. Every time we leave a visit with Peyton and Bella Sophie always sighs and says, "I love Peyton."

Ugliness...

With all that is going in the world right now it is hard to be light, happy, flippant or my personal favorite sarcastic. I'm going to wait to post fresh pictures. I try not to be political or give my personal opinions in this blog. But the Virginia Tech massacre is weighing pretty heavily on me. Pretty scary times to be bringing little ones into the world. I can only hope that they are able to enjoy half so innocent a childhood as I did.

What You Lookin' At?...

We had some more crazy weather today. This morning it was beautiful by nap time we had ferocious rain and wind and by dinner a beautiful sunny evening. The girls and I even took Monkey Dog out for a walk around the block. Yeah, that's a story for another time.

The Juice Bar...

We spent the afternoon in our neighbor's backyard. One of our favorite places to hang-out. The kids all play so well together and I enjoy the companionship. The day was a total winner.

Ok, but now it is 8:15 and someone is mowing their yard. I have to admit having neighbors can be a little trying. Earlier in the week I was having a discussion about what is to late to mow and what is to early. I guess in hindsight I lied. I was thinking between 8am and 9pm were fine. But obviously based on my current irritation after 8pm is to late.

Ceci Goes to War...

The girls and I visited with Heather and Ben and their girls this morning. It was a very successful visit once Ceci warmed up and decided to share her laundry basket. This just goes to show that kids really don't need fancy toys just a couple of laundry baskets to have a good time.

Howdy...

The girls have been busy playing dress-up. Both Sophie and Ceci like to change their clothes many times a day now. It does make laundry tough because they are dirty little monkeys. We did let Sophie out the house looking like this today. She picked the outfit out and was so proud I didn't have the heart to make her change.

My Mom came for a little spring break visit the last couple of days. The girls loved having Grammie to snuggle with. I loved having Grammie to distract the girls for me.

Practice Makes Perfect...

Ceci is practicing all of her big girl moves these days. We worked on opening doors today, jumping off of things and of course taking our clothes on and off. Independence is a beautiful thing.

Happy Easter...

Easter was great. The girls had a quiet morning with me while Wes worked. We went to Jon and Dorothy's for a great Easter dinner and lots of play time with the cousins.

Monsters...

under the bed. Probably one of the most frustrating experiences of parenting (so far). The night before last we enjoyed almost 2 hours (Wes says 1 hour and I say 3) of crying, screaming and overall unreasonableness. The irony of the situation is that Sophia's bed is simply a mattress and box spring on the floor.

I took these pictures of her explaining the situation to me. Lucky for Sophie, me and the monsters they did not visit again last night.
